Those who’ve been around for a short while might remember “ROM kitchens”. For all of you who don’t remember, or haven’t seen them, they were apps that allows you to “cook” your own custom ROM as per Pocket PC (or “Windows Mobile” device).
These “kitchens” allows you to specify your device, which version clothes OS you wanted to run, and exactly options you wanted to use in your ROM — with proverbial kitchen sink. As time progressed these kitchens became less popular and ROM developers became the recent norm.
That tradition has carried right through to today and now we have ROMs made by the CyanogenMod team, the AOKP, DrewGaren, and Peter Alfonso (to name a few). With today’s ROMs, you dig up the particular one you want, download it, and flash it.
